Dr Kate Littler is a Senior Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
She has worked in several different NHS Psychological Services for people with mild to complex psychological difficulties across North Somerset, Bristol and South Wales.
Since qualifying in 2015, Kate has worked across several community adult mental health teams, specialising in working with individuals with trauma backgrounds and developing a specialist service pathway for individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) or emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD).
Kate has worked in an adolescent inpatient unit, working with young people experiencing mental health crises.
In the past 5 years, Kate has also worked with teenagers, young adults, adults and older adults with complex physical health difficulties, including cancer, blood disorders, vascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and amputees. She has set up two services within the NHS for teenagers/adults with physical health difficulties.
Kate is passionate about delivering evidence-based psychological interventions and has undertaken a number of specialist training in experiential dynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, and DBT.
She also incorporates ideas from therapies including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Kate is particularly interested in trauma and the mind-body interaction whereby trauma can be held in the body leading to an array of psychological and physical symptoms.
Through her interest in successful therapeutic outcomes, Kate is aware that the evidence base teaches that although adherence to a therapeutic model can influence therapeutic outcomes, the person of the therapist, the person of the client, and the relationship they co-create has a much more significant influence.
Kate, therefore, prioritises working to develop an authentic and trusting therapeutic relationship, whereby she can hear that individual’s narrative, and facilitate their learning anxiety regulation and increased connection to their emotions, to allow them to reach towards their individual goals from therapy.
She brings extensive experience to her work with private practice clients.
She has worked as a Principal Clinical Psychologist and a Highly Specialised Practitioner Psychologist in:
